Australia was the first side through to the final of triangular series in Perth, after securing a three-wicket victory over England in Hobart. It was a near thing though, coming down to the second-last ball, England had set Australia target of 304, sent in to bat, England's opening partnership of a 113 between Ian Bell & Moin Ali is certainly got the of to a fantastic start. Ian Bell played a fine innings & in the process of scoring a century, became England's highest One Day International run-scorer. England's problems really came in the last ten overs, their middle-order big-hitters failed to fire. They didn't reach the boundary once after the 44th over, their terrific start probably finishing maybe about 30 runs short on a very good batting deck in Hobart. Chasing 304 for victory, Australia managed their run-chase quite well. They were without David Warner at the top but Shaun Marsh & Aron Finch got them off to a very brisk start. But it was Steve Smith who anchored the innings for Australia, He came in as captain in the place of George Bailey who is serving a one-match ban for slow over-rate, & He was impressive as He's been trhoughout the summer. It looked as the Australia were going to reach the target with relative ease, particularly after some big-hitting from Brad Haddin. But Chris Woakes & James Anderson bowled tightly at the death & applied plenty of pressure, in the end Australia got their with one ball remaining. England & India will now fight at out for that remaining spot in the final at Waca.

Stats:

  • Ian Bell has now scored 5136 runs in One Day Internationals, the most for any English batsman. Becoming only the second England player to achieve this milestone after Paul Collingwood who has scored 5092 runs in One Day Internationals
  • Ian Bell has 4 One Day International hundreds, out of 70 batsmen who have scored 5K-plus runs in One Day Internationals, only six have made fewer hundreds than him
  • Steven Smith has now become the only player in the history of Cricket to have scored a century on captaincy debut in both One Day Internationals & Tests. Smith is the seventh player to do this in One Day Internationals
  • Ian Bell scored 141 runs today, his highest score in One Day Internationals & the eighth-highest by any English Batsman. His previous highest score was 126(He had achieved that twice)
  • After 48 innings, England's openers posted a 100-plus partnership. Ian Bell & Moeen Ali shared a 113-run opening partnership in this game

3rd ODI 2015: South Africa vs West Indies | Cricket Highlights

3rd ODI 2015: South Africa vs West Indies | Cricket Highlights

As spineless display from the West Indies top-five was to blame for another poor result, just three days after losing to South Africa by 148 runs. Over Dwayne Smith made just five runs before being caught behind by admittedly a super ball from Vernon Philander, Smith though is far from an ideal opener, averaging only 18.89 in ODI Cricket. Chris Gayle is also looking dangerously out of sorts with the World Cup around the corner having passed 50 runs just once in 15 One-Day innings. West Indies misery carried over into their fielding as well with lazy attempts at catches & fielders looking disorganized and pathetic. By star contrast South Africa were clinical in their chase of a 122, run-machine Hashim Amla & Faf du Plessis both made half-centuries in what would have been one of the easiest days at the office of their careers. With 9 wicket win South Africa take the series 3-0 with two matches left, West Indies on the other hand have more questions & answers. While the Proteas appear a sharp unit just in time for the trip down under.
Missed the match? Don't worry, Watch South Africa vs West Indies' 3rd Match Cricket Highlights below :-)

Stats Analysis:

  • South Africa won this ODI by 9 wickets, that's their biggest margin of victory against West Indies. South Africa have won against West Indies five-times by a margin of eight wickets.
  • South Africa chased the target with 152 balls spare, the most for Africa against West Indies & third-most against a top-eight side.
  • Dale Steyn is now the seventh South African bowler to take 150 wickets in One Day Internationals.  Morkel also has exactly 151 wickets, He achieved the feat in the second One Day International of this Series, that was his 89th ODI. Steyn did it in 96 matches.
  • 122 is now second-lowest total of West Indies against South Africa. Their first lowest was off 54 runs in Cape Town, in 2004.

AB de Villiers murderous World-Record of 149 - Cricket Highlights

AB de Villiers murderous World-Record of 149 - Cricket HighlightsAB de Villiers has become the fastest batsmen to an One Day International Century. It took him just 40 minutes, just 31 balls, it was display of explosive hitting. At the same stadium which holds the record for the highest South African One Day International score. He came in when South Africa was in a good position the first wicket record partnership between Rilee Rossouw and Hashim Amla really set them up well, & de Villiers came in the 39th over, He's the only batsmen in the world to score One Day International century after coming in after 30th over and He has actually done that twice as well. It was the perfect situation for de Villiers to do what He does best & we saw everything, we saw the big hits over back of the bowlers head, we saw the big slogs to mid-wicket, we saw the lofted drives, we saw everything. The one West Indian bowler who really suffered the most was the captain, Ab de Villiers hit him 45 runs off the nine balls he faced, it's incredible strike rate of 338. Hashim Amla faced 33 balls after de Villiers came in & added 33 runs to his total. AB de Villiers is possibly the best batsman ODI cricket has seen, that's what we're saying right now, we're saying He can do just about anything, He can take his team into phenomenal position, the way the He positions himself, the way that He moves himself, moves his feet when the balls coming, scooping balls back over the wicket-keeper's head, getting himself into unusual position & creating strokes. That's what de Villiers is all about, that was probably the best display of that, what we've seen, He's done it before in IPL, done it in T20s, done it for South Africa & given them lead in series.

As far as victories go, it couldn't be much more comprehensive. It was a victory set up by bowling attack that welcomed back James Anderson. His worth to this England side was evident from the start, He didn't concede a run in his first two overs, He got the bowl swinging & He struck with the first ball of his second over. Well, Anderson finish with four wickets, Moin Ali found turn & Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes were solid in their support as well. But, the real penetration came from Steven Finn, the man of the match, just a  year ago Finn during England's ashes campaign was sent back home, because He was considered unselectable. Well, in this match, He proved to be virtually unstoppable, He relish the bounce, He gathered pitch, He used his height to advantage & He bowled to the length that either attempted batsmen to play lose shorts or else found the edge. His five-wicket haul is his best One Day Internationals figures. Despite some resistance from MS Dhoni & Stuart Binny, they were bowled out in just the 40th over. The bowlers defending a mega total of a 153 had some success early, Stuart Binny claimed the wicket of Moin Ali, but from thereon England were in cruise mode. Ian Bell was all class in notching up his first ODI half-century in ten innings & His partnership with James Taylor, who also made a half-century took England pass the total in the 28th over. That gave them the bonus point and now insures that India have an uphill battle to reach the final in Perth.

Stats:

  • England's biggest win over India, England achieved victory, when 135 balls were left, the most for them against India.
  • England won by 9 wickets against India, largest margin of victory in terms of wickets.
  • Only 1 time two England bowlers have taken four-wicket hauls, in the same One Day International innings, playing outside England, Anderson & Finn, today. Finn is also the fourth English bowler to take a Five-for in Australia.
  • India's total of 153 is their lowest ever score against England in One Day Internationals.
  • 5 times Ajinkya Rahane has been dismissed by Steven Finn in One Day Internationals.
  • India has never defended a total of 200 runs or less in a One Day International against England, they have now lost nine such matches.
  • Four catches and a stumping by Jos Buttler, this is the joint-highest by a wicket-keeper in an One Day International in Brisbane, Australia. Matthew Wade & Courtney Browne have also effected five dismissals each.
  • Since 1997 India had won four One Day Internationals to England at a neutral venue & lost only one One Day International to them, the last match India lost to England was in Sharjah in 1997.

4th ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Nelson, Sri Lanka won the toss & chose to bat. Sri Lanka scored 46 runs in the first Mandatory power-play with the loss of one wicket. TM Dilshan, KC Sangakkara & DPMD Jayawardene started very well, but couldn't finish it well, unfortunately. Dilshan missed out his fifty by six runs by getting out on 44, Williamson to Dilshan & Guptill caught it. A well started innings came to an end there. Next one was Sangakkara, tried his trademark cover drive, but finds Guptill there at silly mid-off, scored 76 runs in 83 balls with eight fours & one six. Then, it was Jayawardene who started his innings absolutely brilliant by scoring 94 runs in 81 balls, but, unfortunately, caught by wicket-keeper Luke Ronchi. Captain Mathews couldn't score anything good, but a duck. There were three successful partnerships by Lankans today, first one of 102 between Sangakkara & Dilshan, Second best of 67 runs, was made by Sangakkara & Jayawardene, the third best partnership of 65 runs, was between Thirimanne and Jayawardene. Chasing 277 runs in 300 balls, that too at their home, was never a big problem for Kiwis, as they were in good ODI form these days. Williamson scored yet another hundred, 103 runs in 107 balls. Elliot & Anderson were unlucky, missed out their fifties by six & seven runs respectively. Luke Ronchi & Vettori finished it off by scoring 35 runs in 2.3 overs.
